The United States Naval Sea Cadet Corps is a Federally chartered, non-profit organization sponsored by the Navy League and supported by the Department of the Navy. Sea Cadets are young people, ages 13 to 18. Navy Leaguers are young people ages 11 to 13. Cadets and adult leaders are authorized to wear the Navy uniform, appropriately modified by Naval Sea Cadet Corps insignia. The Cadet Corps programs allow young people to sample military life without any obligation to join any branch of the armed forces.

"To develop an appreciation for our Navy's history, customs, traditions, and its significant role in national defense."

"To develop a sense of pride in our nation, positive qualities of patriotism, courage, self-reliance, confidence, pride in workmanship and seamanship skill, and other attributes which will contribute to the development of strong moral character and good citizenship traits."

"To present the advantages and prestige of a military career, and to increase the potential for advancement of the cadets who wish to join the Navy, Marine Corps, Coast Guard or Merchant Marines."

The Sea Cadet Corps program affords equal opportunity to all American youths to participate without regard to race, color, religion, or sex. Naval Sea Cadet Corps membership requires that all prospective

cadets:

2. Have parental approval.

3. Be a citizen of the United States.

(Under certain conditions, waivers may be granted by the Executive Director)

4. Be ages 13 through 17.

5. Be a full-time student and be recommended by their principal or counselor.

Navy Leaguer Cadet Corps membership qualifications are the same, except that the applicant must have reached their 11th birthday but not their 14th birthday.
